Roles and Responsibility:
The Design Manager is responsible for leading a team of designers, creating innovative product concepts, coordinating with the production department to implement new designs, and overseeing interior projects for home and office spaces. This role requires strong leadership, creativity, proficiency in design software, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
 
1. Market Research and Trend Analysis:
  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging design concepts, and consumer preferences in the furniture and interior design markets.
  • Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify opportunities for product innovation and differentiation.
 
2. Budget and Resource Management:
  • Develop and manage the design department's budget, ensuring cost-effective design processes.
  • Allocate resources efficiently, including materials, software, and equipment, to support design projects.
 
3. Design Leadership:
  • Lead and mentor a team of designers, providing guidance and support to ensure their professional growth.
  • Foster a collaborative and creative environment that encourages the generation of innovative design concepts.
 
4. Concept and Product Design:
  • Develop new furniture concepts and product designs that align with market trends and customer preferences.
  • Create detailed design sketches, prototypes, and 3D renderings using software such as AutoCAD and other 3D designing software.
 
5. Production Coordination:
  • Collaborate closely with the production department to implement new design concepts efficiently.
  • Ensure that designs are manufactural and meet production standards.
  • Monitor the production process to ensure design specifications are followed.
 
6. Interior Projects:
  • Lead home and office interior projects in coordination with the sales department.
  • Work with clients to understand their needs and preferences, translating them into creative design solutions.
  • Oversee the execution of interior projects, ensuring design integrity and client satisfaction.
 
7. Quality Control:
  • Review and approve all designs created by subordinates, ensuring they are error-free and align with company standards.
  • Conduct design reviews and provide feedback to maintain design quality.
 
8. Continuous Learning & SOP:
  • Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and design techniques.
  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the design department to enhance efficiency and consistency.
 
9. Team Development:
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations for design team members and provide constructive feedback.
  • Identify training and development opportunities to enhance the skills and capabilities of the design team.
 
10. Project Documentation:
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation for each design project, including design specifications, drawings, material lists, and project timelines.
  • Ensure that all project documentation is accessible and organized for reference and future use.
 
Desired candidate:
  • Bachelor's degree in product design, interior design, or a related field (preferred).
  • Excellent communication and selling skills.
  • 3 years in a leadership or management role.
